Meet Gabby

Experienced. Loyal.   Consistent.

For the past 10 years I have worked as Chief Deputy Clerk for Valley County. During that time, Clerk Miller taught me how to efficiently perform every responsibility assigned to the County Clerk.

In February of this year, Clerk Miller announced he would be leaving Valley County for a different opportunity. I interviewed to replace Clerk Miller with both the Republican Central Committee and the County Commissioners. On March 2nd, I was unanimously appointed to be the Valley County Clerk for the remainder of Clerk Miller’s term.

Moving forward, I respectfully ask that you vote for me for Valley County Clerk so that I can continue to use my extensive experience to serve Valley County. Your vote for me to serve our community as County Clerk is a privilege, an honor, and a responsibility that I take very seriously.

Over a decade of experience.

Court

As the County Clerk I am the Clerk of the Court. Which means that I supervise and run all aspects of the court. When I began working for Valley County over 12 years ago, I started as a Court Clerk, a year later I was promoted to Court Clerk Supervisor. There are a multitude of jobs that are required for the complete court operation process, I have fully learned all of these tasks over the years and still participate in the training of new clerks. I have supervised more than 30 jury trials and several grand juries. I have worked closely with many magistrate and district Judges, I also have a strong working relationship with the Trial Court Administrative office, which is imperative to daily court operation.

Elections

As the County Clerk it is my responsibility to efficiently run all Federal, State, County and taxing district elections. Over the last 10 years as Chief Deputy Clerk I have helped to run over 12 successful elections. Elections are one of the most important things that the Clerk’s Office does. It is an ever changing and developing process. Over time new equipment comes out that allows for more streamlined processes. Many years ago the state of Idaho changed elections software; as Chief I was in charge of this transition. The Clerk’s Office also upgraded our ballot counting machine, express votes for voter with disabilities, implemented election ware which helps track results, and moved to electronic pollbooks. As Chief Deputy I was critical in making these changes happen for Valley County. I am continually looking for ways to improve our local elections and advance with technology. As Chief Deputy, in 2020, I helped make plans for running a federal, state and county primary and general election under strict COVID protocols.

Budget & Financial

As the County Clerk it is my responsibility to be the ex officio auditor and budget officer. Over the last ten years I have worked directly with Clerk Douglas Miller compiling the preliminary county budget and ensuring compliance with Idaho Code. The process begins with structured meetings with the elected officials and department heads for them to present detailed expense needs while also identifying revenue sources tied to their operations, such as fees and grants.

Throughout the process the commissioners and the clerk conduct regular meetings workshops to make sure a balanced budget is being established. A critical component of meeting this requirement is a solid understanding of property tax levies,  which I have. Careful analysis and conservative approach are essential to uphold fiscal responsibility and public trust.

Leadership

I understand what it takes to be a leader and possess those required skills. My 15 years of experience supervising and managing staff has prepared me to be a great leader for Valley County. I have excellent teamwork and communication skills, and I will always firmly hold to my ethics and honesty. In 2021 I participated in an online 14-week National Association of Counties (NACO) High Performance Leadership Academy and completed with 100% participation.  I value a work environment that promotes employee health and productivity.  My employees enjoy an environment that supports them and encourages growth.  This in turn, has developed a workforce that is motivated, effective, and always looking for ways to improve the office as a whole. My approach has always been one of teamwork, delegation, training and trust.

"She Knows the job from day one!"
